Preparation of Immunogens

Preparation of Immunogens - Epitope prediction

The primary sequence of the target protein (which you provide) can be examined for a contiguous stretch of amino acids which would likely constitute an epitope. The criteria that are applied include ß-turn probability, antigenicity index, and surface probability (hydrophilicity). Generally, an immunogenic peptide is 16 residues in chain length and encompasses the predicted epitope sequence. Predicted Immunogenic peptides can also be synthesized, purified and characterized at CBI. Peptides prepared at CBI are routinely characterized by analytical reverse-phase HPLC and amino acid analysis; N-terminal sequence analysis and mass spec analysis are available as options. Please see the "Peptide Synhtesis" capabilities page. CBI also routinely prepares NON peptidaceous immunogens, including saccharides, fatty acid, and pharmacophores structures. Please inquire for further details.

MAPS (multiple antigen peptides sequences) Antigens

4- or 8- arm MAPS can be prepared so as to incorporate the same peptide sequence at each arm, or so as to incorporate multiple sequences at different arms. The costs depend a great deal on the scale of the work to be done and the number of positions at which synthesis must take place.
