Purification of Antibodies

Purification

Antibody purification is routinely done by protein A (or L) chromatography, on an analytical or preparative scale. Other methods (DEAE chromatography, differential precipitation) are also available.

Preparation of Monospecific polyclonal antisera

CBI routinely performs affinity ligand column chromatography for the purpose of preparing monospecific polyclonal antibodies. The ligand is immobilized on a column matrix (eg., Sepharose) or alternatively, is synthesized de novo on the column resin. The whole Ig cut obtained from serum (or from egg yolks, in the case of IgYs) is subjected to affinity ligand chromatography.
