Plasmid Preparations

CBI offers small- and large-scale preparations of high quality plasmid DNA for all molecular biology and gene therapy applications. CBI offers yields of up to 100 mg. Automated instrumentation is used to perform rapid plasmid miniprep DNA templates for sequencing in the 96 well format. A variety of other prep services for BAC, PAC, cosmid and lambda clones are also offered.

CBI employs a purification protocol that allows for isolation of up to 100 mg of ultra pure supercoiled plasmid DNA. The plasmid purification protocol is based on a modified alkaline lysis and column purification. RNA, proteins, and low molecular-weight impurities are removed by a salt wash. The plasmid is eluted and ethanol precipitated. The finished product is passed though our quality control and, in most cases, a digestion with restriction enzymes is performed to verify insert size and the absence of RNA and chromosomal DNA. A photo of the gel is supplied with the plasmid sample. The OD and spectrometric scan from 220-300nm of the plasmid will be provided (not included for mini-prep).
