Amino Acid Analysis is typically performed by acid or base hydrolysis of protein or peptide samples. Short time analyses in propionic acid/HCl are also routine. Quantitative determination of all residues (including Trp, Pro, and HyPro) is possible at the 800 fmol level, although the standard dynamic range is 10-100 pmoles. At CBI, we perform reduction and alkylation of samples with iodoacetamide, iodoacetic acid, or 4-vinyl pyridine for determination of Cys. We offer timed hydrolyses for quantitative determination of Ser and Thr, and methanesulfonic acid hydrolysis for Trp.
